Thank goodness SpaDepot is around-my hot tub is twenty plus years old and the the filter company is out of business but luckily Rainbow Plastics makes replacement parts carried by Spa.Depot. I might even by some surplus/extra parts for a rainy day.

Why can i not get the ring screwed back on the filter cover

Make sure the filter is properly seated in the canister and that the canister lid is properly seated on the filter. Applying a thin film of grease to the threads of the ring will help everything go back together smoothly.
