HydroMaster Spa Draining Pump Manual

CALIFORNIA WARNING

Effective draining solution that works faster than gravity drains or siphons. Customers said it "drained in record time" and "worked like a charm." Drains 300-400 gallons in 30 mins-2 hours. Some note it's "a little loud" and the hose needs weighing down to stay submerged. A few reported assembly issues or poor performance. Overall praised for ease of use and effectiveness.

Pump worked perfect

Pump worked perfect. Made draining the hot tub much faster and could get the low spots and debris out.

Nice little pump

This pump works great. The pump had my hot tub drained in record time. I used a 8 pound hand weight to keep the hose on the bottom of the tub because it wants to float to the surface.

Good choice

Previously I used a bilge pump and a hose designed for pool filter drainage.
This was painful and always required a wet vac to finishe the job.
This spa depot spa pump works great, have used it twice.Little bit loud but no big deal. And for its size you would expect this.
Will purchase again when the time comes.

Didn'tWork

Followed directions. Primed properly and....nothing. The only thing I got was smoke. Threw it away.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with our Hot Tub Water Draining Pump. They have a good record of reliability, so this is puzzling. Customer care is reaching out to get a little more information and resolve the issue. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Making it easy

Just finished using the drain pump I ordered from SpaDepot.com. Very easy to use and worked like a charm! As others have mentioned you need to weigh down the end of the plastic hose they include with the pump but not a big deal. I found it drained my tub faster than I expected. I have 400+ gallon tub and it drained it in 42 minutes. Some have mentioned they thought it was noisy, but for a small electric motor I thought it was a very acceptable noise level.

Works great! The only negative is it's a little loud but totally worth it.

Great Product

I used this to drain my spa and it was so much easier than draining directly from spa outlet. I was quick and easy and I was able to get all the water out of my spa.

Assembled wrong

Pump leaked from the shaft on the back side of the impeller housing on first use. There was a rubber o-ring sitting freely on the shaft behind the housing; disassembling the pump, removing a small retention piece, and placing the o-ring behind the felt spacer seemed to fix the problem. After reassembly the pump seemed to work fine but it shouldn't take surgery out of the box just to get it working as designed.

Good pump but needs a few improvements

I have a 400 gallon spa. It takes about 1.5 hours to drain with this pump which is much faster than using the built-in spa gravity drain or a siphon hose. The 10' clear hose needs a weight to keep it anchored on the spa bottom to maintain suction and avoid having to physically hold it in place. I cobble something using a rubber band and a heavy serving spoon but the manufacturer should include a weight that you could slide over the end. The pump is water cooled so keeping constant suction is a must. It doesn't take long before the pump begins to overheat and slow if it loses suction. There is no on-off switch which is cumbersome, especially if the pump suddenly loses suction and you are scrambling to shut it down before it overheats. Overall, the pump works well but there is certainly room for improvement.

Probably not

Low volume output. Takes too long. Might as well just siphon and save electricity. Gooodfor last bit that siphon can't reach

As described

Made draining my spa that much easier. It drained 400 gallons in just under 2 hours which is an improvement versus all day if you have never done it with a pump. The only thing I did different is hooked to the drain spout instead of using the clear hose directly out of the spa.

Water Pump

I used this pump to drain 330 gallons of water from an IBC tank. I ran for several hours with no problem. The only problem is it's a little louder than I thought, and does not pump as fast as thought. However, it does what a 1/10 horsepower work. Other than the loudness, the pump did its job as intended.

Very Impressed

Used this pump for the first time today and it performed very well. Took about 45 minutes to drain 325 gallons which I was pleased with. As another reviewer stated, you'll need to somehow keep the drain hose anchored to the floor as it floats up. I used a large rock.

Good but not Great

It works well as I have a relatively small 2/3 person spa. It emptied it in about 30 minutes. It is best if you have a weight to put on the end of the suction hose to keep it at the bottom of the spa, otherwise it wants to float to the surface, suck air and start the pump to cavitate.

Can I connect this drain pump to the gravity drain at the base of my tub?

SpaDepot.com

Yes, this pump will work great connected to your drain valve. Make sure to open the valve before activating the pump.

Is this pump submersible

SpaDepot.com

This pump is not submersible. It will however provide strong enough suction to prime and drain from above the waterline.
