Paper instructions could’ve been better, but customer service on the phone is excellent. Have it working now for about a month and everything is perfect
We were close to getting rid of our old hot tub. It was dead and weeks of troubleshooting and trying different things (sensor, transformer, topside control unit etc.) we finally concluded the control board must have died. Instead of replacing the board I stumbled across the EasyPak which included a new board, new sensors, new heater and excellent tech support. The EasyPak brought new life to the tub. A couple things I learned along the way...
- pay attention to the location of your pressure switch (it needs to be on the output side of the pump. The unit comes with the PS mounted on the heater - so I needed to reposition.
- be sure to put the temp sensor in a well on the tub. The manual says it can be sistered along side of the high temp sensor on the heater. This will work but the tub will cycle on and off as the heater water warms and cools - like every min or two. Better to place the temp sensor in an existing dry or wet well if it has one. Mine has a wet well - I was able to use some gorilla tape to cover the tub-side hole while I swapped the sensors.
- Make sure that the pressure switch is adjusted properly - detailed instructions are provided. The ultimate test is that when you unplug the pump, the heater should cut out.
- Lastly, make sure there is no power going to the tub when you are working on it - don't assume it is safe - know that it is! Installation is not rocket science, but being somewhat handy, helps.
I wish I would have order this retro-fit EasyPak right away, rather than spending hours trouble shooting/ordering parts/trouble shooting etc.. In an old tub if one part wears out or breaks -- other parts are probably not far behind! Good luck.
Old controller heater wouldn't shut off. Replaced with EP1400 lite leader. So far it's working as expected.
This unit worked perfect. The heater was the same length as the old one which made the conversion ultra easy. Support at Spa depot was great and when I received it , it took about 2 hours to change out. Works perfect now. Would buy from this place again.
The order arrived rapidly and the product is exactly as described. I am handy but have limited electrical experience. The included instructions are likely enough for a more experienced person.
I needed assistance, so I contacted customer support during installation. Amy was extremely knowledgeable and was able to assist me over the phone to complete the install and steer me back on track.
Spa Depot exceeded my expectations; specifically their Customer Support!
