Spa Cover-Mate III Piston-Assisted Lifter - Side Mount

If you are going to use the top of the line covers (heaviest) this is not for you. After 6 months one of the shocks broke and now after 2 years both arms are broken.

Didn't even last two years before the plastic on one of the brackets bent and allowed the strut to disconnect. The previous cover lift (Cover Valet) lasted over 10 years.

This product looks sleek and nice. Within a week of installing, started having issues with lift mechanism which ripped our cover. Now both support brackets are bent and useless.

We have bought a few of these, but for some reason one of the most recent did not hold up at all, as it has cracked on one side and now is completely unusable.

Great product! Our cover is thicker than most and wasn't sure that this would be strong enough. Definitely strong and very easy to use. The directions are not the best but anyone with common sense should have no problem.

We really like this hot tub cover lifter. It's really easy to open now and recommend to everyone.

We purchased an Aries spa from Rockwall Tx & they were out of spa cover lifts. They graciously supplied us with A SpaDepot Brochure to obtain the lift. Even noted the price was less than they would charge. Made an online purchase sitting in the spa parking lot & it arrived very quickly. It was attached to our 8x8' spa yesterday & even the delivery people remarked how well made it was. We've used it twice already & it's perfect & also allows for our privacy lattice behind the hot tub as it only takes up 6"" upon opening. Very pleased !!!

Very easy to lift the cover one handed. Like most reviews I read the instructions. They were not very clear to understand. I also looked at a youtube video for help. However, one big difference. One said to be 3"" off the edge of the spa with the hinge and the other 4"". I went with what the instructions said. The piece that goes into the center of the cover is raised up too far and is pulling the cover up. I am afraid it is going to rip the cover. I don't want to have to pull all of the screws out and redo the distance. Not sure what to do about it.

I am so thankful I bought this! It is so easy to open/close and was not difficult for me to install by myself. I really like the arm lock that prevents it from falling closed when open.

lift works perfect at what it does. The common complaint ive seen about all these assist type lifts is that they end up tearing the cover. With the weight of the cover being what holds them down in the closed position, its obviously a flaw in the way they are designed. Should have a pin of som sort that locks to take the load of the shock off the cover in the closed position. There is an easy fix for this that cost me less than $20.00 and took about 10 minutes total to install. I took a velcro strap and installed a snap on the side of tub and on end of strap. When you close the lid, just button the strap at the corner of lift crossbar and it takes the load instead of the cover. I will include photo for better explenation. But it was super simple.

Amazing! This makes lifting the cover 1,000 times easier. I love this.

It was good for about a year, then piston kept popping off. Eventually the red safety tab gets brittle and breaks. I would've recommend if you have a heavy duty cover.

This is the easiest lifter I have used. It requires very little effort. I have arm and shoulder issues and was concerned I would not find a lifter that worked for me. I love it.

Easy to install and super easy to open and close the cover.

The problem is that the side arms are not long enough to slide into the support bracket for a stable fit. I am going to find a dowel or similar support to slide into the hollow ""pipes"" of the side support arms to make them strong enough to support the cover in the lifted position. The Covermate III I had previously snapped at this point. My cover is one of the larger ones so the absence of sturdy support arms needs to be addressed IMHO. I would only recommend this if the buyer is willing to modify it as mentioned.

This bracket handles my 8 person spa top perfectly. I don't use it on windy days but it works fine with a light breeze.

After researching numerous spa cover lifters, we are pleased that we chose the Cover Mate III. It was fairly easy to assemble and install (replaced an existing lifter), and it opens and closes with ease. The plastic cover at the hinge area helps to protect against rust. The towel hooks are an added bonus. Highly recommend and would buy again. Shipped quickly too!

With carefully planning, the installation went well inside 6-inch space. The only failure was the lack of adhesive on the release warning decal.

Have used this cover before and now am expert at installation. Assembly instructions could be improved.

We installed this on our hot tub, it was easy to install and works great. I have been using it for about a month and there have been no issues.

The product was installed by our carpenter today. It is already broken. The cheap plastic hinges flex/bend and ultimately break. The hydrolic also already busted. I will be asking for a replacement. The issue is we are going to have to fix it and live with it, because this lifter is premantently mounted/drilled into the spa. Terrible design and engineering, and terrible quality.

Installed in about a half hour, works well, customer is happy.
